We are a training practice and have a close link with the London Deanery. At any one time we may have as many as 11 training doctors in different capacities.
All doctors are fully qualified and are supervised closely. We have different grades of training doctors at the James Wigg Practice. This includes Foundation Year doctors who are considering a career in general practice and are attached to the practice for four months.
We have Specialty Training doctors who are in the first, second or third year of their specialist training to become general practitioners.
Our Specialist Training Year 3 doctors who senior doctors who have completed their hospital rotation and are with us for a placement of up to 18 months.
We also have under-graduate medical students from UCL Hospital Medical School. They attend here for training in general practice. They may be sitting in on some consultations. If you prefer not to have a medical student present, do not hesitate to indicate this to the doctor or nurse who is seeing you. We really appreciate your help with the teaching of these future clinicians.
