Prescriptions take two working days for requests to be processed. You can order repeat medication online, by post enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, in person or through your Pharmacy.
We do not accept prescription requests over the telephone.
Online Prescription Requests
You can register with us to access prescriptions online and make requests directly from our clinical system that holds your record. Please come into the surgery and register for this service with Photo ID; or if you have already registered for Patient Access proceed to patient-access to login to the service. You can use Patient Access to make and cancel appointments.
If you know the name and dosage of your medication, you can also use our online form to request your prescriptions.
Straight to your pharmacy
Nominate a pharmacy to have your prescriptions sent to. You no longer need to visit the practice to collect paper prescriptions.
What does this mean for you?
If you collect your repeat prescriptions from us you will not have to visit the practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, we will send it electronically to the pharmacy you choose, saving you time. Contact reception or your pharmacy to add to your patient record. You do not need a computer to set this up.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.
Is this service right for you?
Yes, if you have a stable condition and you:
- Do not wish to come to the practice each time to collect your repeat prescription.
- Collect your medicines from the same place most of the time or use a prescription collection service.
It may not be suitable if you:
- Do not get prescriptions very often.
- Pick up your medicines from different places.
- If you are prescribed certain controlled drugs (e.g. morphine, pethidine, methadone). These medications cannot be sent electronically.
Can I change my nominated pharmacy or cancel it and get a paper prescription?
Yes you can. If you do not want your prescription to be sent electronically tell us.
If you want to change or cancel your nomination speak to any pharmacist, dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS, or our receptionist. Tell them before your next prescription is due or your prescription may be sent to the wrong place.
Is this service reliable, secure and confidential?
Yes. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now.
Sometimes dispensers may see that you have nominated another dispenser. For example, if you forget who you have nominated and ask them to check. Dispensers will also see all the items on your reorder slip if you are on repeat prescriptions.
